With 'East of the Aegean' Maria Simoglou and Stratis Psaradellis create a musical bridge between their respective backgrounds, to travel on the shores of the East Mediterranean.
Maria Simoglou on vocals, kanun and percussion, and Stratis Psaradellis on saz, lyra and lafta propose us a muscial universe of traditional music from several Greek regions, from the north of Macedonia to Asia Minor, taking us to Thrace, the islands of the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea. It is a journey through the cycle of life and through time, a musical mosaique, where rhythmical and melodic improvisations leave plenty of room for the inspiration and musical skill of the musicians.
