LU YU CHENG, Soprano- ‘East and West’

Description

Lu Yu Cheng studied music at the Taiwan University, and at the
Conservatories of Paris and Brussels. She specialized in Mozart and Lied
interpretation, and has performed in the Opera de Liege and the Opera
Studio de la Monnaie in Brussels. She also sung in the Midsummer Night’s
Dream by Benjamin Britten,
in the Mass by Dvorak and in Hor mein Bitten by Mendelssohn,
with the choir and orchestra of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.

The first part of this concert by soprano Lu Yu Cheng is dedicated to
Taiwan's aboriginal tradition. The melodies are very harmonious, pure and
refined.
The songs speak about love, death, strong alcohol and good drinking.

Then Lu Yu Cheng will present traditional Taiwan songs from different
regions. These are sung in the Taiwanese language( Chinese language from
Fujian, different from the Mandarin language).
Then she will sing contemporary Taiwanese melodies.

After a small break, traditional Chinese songs will take turn, composed on
ancient texts.
Finally you will hear contemporary Chines melodies from different regions.

PIANO- FRANÇOIS LEFÈVRE
