Vid. Puttur Nikshith, a very popular Mridangam artist, started his
Mridangam training under Sri. Kukkila Shankara Bhat and further learnt
under
the Gurukula system for over 15 years under Vid. Mannarkoil J Balaji,
Chennai.
He is a B High graded artist of AIR, Chennai. He has received the "Best
Mridangist" award, 2019 - 20 in the Junior slot from the prestigious
Music
Academy, Chennai. He has accompanied many stalwarts in the field of
Music
including Saxophone Chakravarthy Dr. Kadri Gopalnath, Dr. Mysore
Manjunath, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Madurai Sri. T. N. Seshagopalan,
Sangeetha
Kalanidhi Chitraveena Sri. N. Ravikiran and many more.

Srilatha & Nikshith have come up with a very unique concept "Veena-
Mridangam" duet probably the first of its kind and they have presented
it at
several reputed sabhas & festivals and received lots of appreciation &
reviews
for their performances. They are recipients of Bharat Ratna Dr. M. S.
Subbulakshmi Fellowship from Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai, "Saptarang
Kalashree" Award from Saptarang trust, Nanded recieved from former CM of
Maharashtra Sri. Ashok Chowhan.

Nikshith and Srilatha started the culture wing of NATANA TARANGINI,
which is
the NATANA TARANGINI ACADEMY in 2019, through which they are
organising concerts, seminars, workshops of leading artists as well as
youngsters. Their institute Natana Tarangini School of Music and Dance
which
was instituted by Dr. Y. G. Parimala has completed 20 years service in
the field of Music & Bharathanatyam.
