The Modern Times Quartet was created in 2013 by four passionate
musicians of the Brussels Philharmonic.
Their repertoire covers different styles and eras ,from baroque,
classical, romance, popular film music to the music written today.
They take great pleasure in sharing their art with the public, based on
their many years of experience playing in the orchestra's and in various
chamber music groups.
Anton Skakun - violin
Anton was born in Kiev and started his musical journey at 7 years old
with a violin .
His father is Conductor of the Poltava Symphony Orchestra, and Anton
began to play with the orchestra from the age of 15.Anton is the
laureate of a few solo and chamber music competitions.
Making his studies first in Ukraine, than in Switzerland with some known
professors of the violin like MaximVengerov, Liviu Prunaru ,Bogodar
Kotorovich and Gyula Stuller he finally the member of the Brussels
Philharmonic since 2011.
Eleonore Malaboeuf - violin
From the age of 5 Eleonore started to study first piano then the violin
because she loved the both instruments.
Her musical career started at the "Conservatoire Régional de Caen" and
continued in Paris then in Geneva.
During all the studies with the famous professors Jean-Jacques Guetem,
Nicolas Jarry and Jean- Pierre Wallez, she participated in some chamber
music festivals and she was leading several projects that connect the
music and the theater.
Since 2009 Eleonore is a member of the Brussels Philharmonic.
Stephan Uelpenich - viola
Stephan's foundation in musicology was laid at the University of
Bonn,where he studied from 1984 to 1987.He subsequently obtained an
Artistic Diploma for viola at the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen
Werden between 1986 and 1991.
Stephan played in many famous chamber music ensemble's like Moscow
chamber soloists, Trio Arcade,Finarovsky String Quartet.
Stephan continues to shape the unique voice of the Modern Times
Quartet.
Since 1995 he became an integral part of the Brussels Philharmonic.
Elke Wynants - cello
Elke received her first cello lesson at the Vilvoorde music academy with
Claudine Steenackers.She obtained her Higher Grade 3 diploma at the Boom
Music Academy in 1997.Elke is the laureate of the Pro Civitate
competition. She followed further studies in Brussels and Antwerp with
great professors Harro Ruysenaars,France Springuel,Didier Poskin and
Jeroen Reuling.
Elke took master courses with Marie Hallynck, Walter Grimmer, Louis
Claret, Gary Hoffman Justus Grimm and with the greatest Alban Berg
Quarter .
She also laureate of the "Horlait Dapsens" chamber music competition.
Elke also was principal cello in the "Young Philharmonie "(EUYO).
Since 2010 she is a member of the Brussels Philharmonic.
