STÉPHANE DE MAY- ‘RUPTURES’: Liszt, Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Mendelssohn

Description

The pianist Stéphane De May loves most of all to share things with
everybody. To share his passion, his delicate and thought-out play, his
sensitive personality, his sharp acumen for human contact.
Having obtained the higher piano diploma at the École Normale A. Cortot in
Paris and the concertist diploma at the Rotterdam Conservatory, he
completed his formation at the Mons Conservatory obtaining the higher
diploma of chamber music. He was to reap high honours with congratulations
of the jury, led by such grand masters as A. Delle-Vigne, A. Rachman El
Bacha, T. Evdokimova and G. Van Waas. On the international scene he was
laureate in numerous competitions in Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, the
United States of America and the Netherlands. His name appears on the
playbills of the most renowned festivals. Currently he is teacher of piano
and chamber music at the Rotterdam Conservatory, at the Conservatoire de
Liège and at IMEP de Namur. He is invited at the HEMU de Sion in
Switzerland on a regular basis.
His discography - greatly appreciated by the international press - is a
real spellbinder encompassing the entire piano repertoire. Since his
recent recording of Chopin's Nocturnes - the reference recording according
to the American press -, up to his recordings of contemporary Music by
Pärt, Liebermann, Lysight and Janssens. His repertoire ranges from Chamber
Music by Weber, Schubert, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Franck, Lekeu, Debussy to
only recently Onslow.
Pausing briefly at the "solo variations" by Bach, Mendelssohn, Chopin,
Mompou, Czerny and Franck.
Utilizing a moment of rest full of energy for tangos by Piazzolla,
Bragato, Devreese and Brossé.
As a sought-after chamber musician, he had the honour to have been invited
with the Portici Trio (Luc Tooten - cellist, and Damien Pardoen -
violinist) to the official tour of the Belgian King and Queen in Lithuania
as well as to the Autumn Concert in the Royal Palace in 2006.
Since 2007, the Portici Trio has been the "orchestra in residence" of the
University of Leuven and its official ambassador.
