Description‘Bird Why Don’t You Sing?’ Songs From Thrace, The Greek Islands & Asia Minor
Meraki is a word that exists both in Greek and Turkish. In Greek the word signifies passion, artistry and love. A great desire that moves all senses. In Turkish it means the natural curiosity that urges one to find out new things and to push ones limits. Again it denotes a great desire that is in the core of all creation. The group Meraki is a gathering of musicians from around Greece. All four members are both instrumentalists and vocalists, and the group focuses on vocal pieces and dances from three main music areas of the Hellenic world: Thrace, the Greek islands, and Asia Minor, now the coastal areas of Turkey.
