Golondrinas are swallows – songbirds, and fast flyers. Ester Veldhuis (voice), Modeste Breukers (bass guitar) and Pieter Jan Cramer van den Bogaart (accordion) are the Amsterdam based musical trio Golondrinas. They perform original folk songs from Latin America, Spain, Cape Verde and Portugal. The songs switch between melancholic and exuberant, but the music always has a deeper meaning, a poetic take, a mysterious timbre. A homage to composers like Eduardo en Juan Falú, Leguizamon, Victor Jara, Jorge Fandermole, Lhura, Lhasa de Sela, Mayra Andrade, Tom Jobim, Joni Mitchell and more. Recently they played at the Dutch Crossing Border festival in The Hague, in the Amsterdam Bellevue Theatre, the Roode Bioscoop, they collaborated with the PanAm photo project of photographer Kadir van Lohuizen and they were on Radio 1 at the Nacht van het Goede Leven (podcast: http://www.adelinevanlier.nl/programma/gasten-golondrinas/) www.golondrinas.nl
