DELEYAMAN - Ambient Experimental Armenia

Description

Deleyaman is a French American band founded in 2000 by the Armenian American musician and multi-instrumentalist Aret Madilian. They create a kind of music which is difficult to categorize.
The first alternative music band to have included the ancient wind instrument the “duduk” as a permanent instrument in their compositions, Deleyaman’s musical influences are vast.
From ancient Anatolian music to darkwave, experimental and coldwave,
their otherworldly sound reaches and offers something far beyond the music heard
in mainstream rock genres and pop-bands.
Many music critics have likened Deleyaman’s first three albums to some of Dead Can Dance’s work.
Others have mentioned The Cocteau Twins, Velvet Underground and German Krautrock bands
upon hearing a piece of music or a passage from Deleyaman.
All of these artists and many more have inspired the band in shaping their own authentic sound.
Deleyaman does not pay much attention to trends, the band members follow their own creative path and they’re uninterested in the marketing side of music as a consumable product.
They’ve released five albums to date and continue to create a music defying trends
and the narrow vision of single genres.
Deleyaman's new album will be released soon.
They will be performing at Art Base in Brussels, for the third time. A place they cherish.
