DescriptionThis trio interprets music from South-America , mainly from Argentina.
They play rhythms like zamba, milonga,, chacarera and tango. But also joropo and pasaje from Venezuela. Besides playing, all three musicians sing and the timbres of their voices blend wonderfully. Juan Masondo: guitar & vocals, is a legendary guitarist with a beautiful, a bit hoarse voice. Born in Argentina (Cordoba) he came to Belgium mid‘70s. He played, amongst others, with Dirk van Esbroek and with the great bandoneonist Alfredo Marcucci. Koen de Cauter: guitar & vocals. A famous musician who plays his Selmer guitar in an intense, inventive and passionate way. With a slight touch of gipsy, but always sounding only like himself. Jopie Jonkers : Harp & vocals. Followed lessons on the Venezuelan and Paraguayan harp with several teachers, and developed from there on an enchanting and unique style of her own. The authentic playing of Juan, the sparkling harp of Jopie and the always surprising improvisational contribution of Koen, ensure a very special interpretation of this music. Warm music in bleak times. Together they made two Cd’s: “El Charco” in 2008 and “Palomita Viajera” in 2010. *****
