MAGGID- Klezmer

Maggid invites you on their quest towards a symbiosis between traditional ‘roots’music from the ancient world and youthful, musical anarchy. Armed with a very defined sound, organic interplay, improvisation and contemporary harmonic colors, Maggid brings a mix of original compositions and arrangements of Jewish melodies from the 19th and early 20th  centuries.
Traditional music from the ancient world meets youthful musical anarchy. “
Formed in 2006, Maggid has built up a strong live reputation. In Germany their musical quest was equally appreciated and in 2011 they won the
“Mosche Beregovski Nachwuchspreis für Klezmer Ensemble”.
They won both the Jury Prize and the Audience Award.
On October 1st 2012, the release of the first full album of this original, young band
is a fact. It was recorded live at “De Werf” in Bruges, released at “Zephyrus Records”
and was immediately picked up by fans of both jazz, folk and world music.
If you want to meet this group live during one of the release concerts, take a look
at our agenda.

Nicolaas Cottenie | violin, Jonas De Rave | accordion,
Robbe Kieckens | percussion, Ruben Lamon | double bass.
