Subhankar Chatterjee was an ardent fan of music from childhood. Initially he started his training under Shri Komal Sadhu Khan, followed by Shri Alok Chatterjee.
He took training for applying ashtanga in Khayal under the renowned musicologist
Pt. Kumar Prasad Mukherjee.

From 1996 he started solo performances widely, getting huge appreciation and critical acclaims. He gave many international concerts, in England, Germany, The Netherlands, and Austria.
He now visits Europe twice every year to perform on prestigious festivals, and he also  gives lecture demonstrations in different University's.
With his charming voice and his characteristic presentation he has clearly established himself in the field of  North Indian Classical vocal music.
Saibal Chatterjee is an established solo-percussionist and has also accompanied most of the top-ranking classical vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers of India. He has presented his music in many countries in Europe and America.
Saibal Chatterjee has also conducted many tabla workshop and seminars in Germany, Ireland and Belgium and he set up and conducted his own percussion ensembles in Germany.
