Description

The exhibition "1 +1 = 3" brings together some twenty paintings that were made in quatre bras style in the ephemeral studio of Brazzano (Cormons) from 11 November 2007 to 31 March 2008 by two artists, Roberto Cantarutti and Luciano de Gironcoli, together using the pseudonym of Rolu Gircan.
The event is remarkable both in terms of art as in the originality of the work. It shows us an urban space, cosmic, surreal. The space folds, shapes and lets himself be dominated by the intervention of man and - as in this case - that of the painter. A unique painter as fruit of the meeting of two different sensibilities and experiences: Roberto Cantarutti is fascinated by the force that gives life to the line shaped by a hand, a painter with a penchant for figurative, symbolic interpretation and multicolored compositions; and Luciano Gironcoli, always intrigued by the organization of the canvas according to guidelines and interfering levels revealed by a chromatic choice referring to reality. Thus was born the "third artist", who breaks the canvas and drowns it into a world of melancholy and despair, mixing the cubist spatial decomposition and the futurist movement and topping it by a chromatic symbolism.
(Based on a text in Italian by Eliana Mogorovich)

Roberto and Luciano Cantarutti of Gironcoli are two painters from the city of Cormons in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Both have participated in countless exhibitions in Slovenia and Italy.
