DescriptionTwenty five years ago died in Geneva, Jorge Luis Borges, a writer like no other in history. Jorge Luis Borges is considered one of the most important figures in Latin American literature. To celebrate the life and work of this magnificent poet, the Secretary of Culture of Tucumán (Argentina) commissioned Argentinean composer Julio Santillán the creation of a show. It was premiered in 2005. The concert features a selection of seven poems (songs), two short stories and an instrumental piece performed by vocalist Ana Rossi and guitarist/singer Julio Santillán. The songs alternate with short fragments (in Spanish with optional English translation) taken from other poems and prologues by Borges. Santillán composed the music utilizing South American folk rhythms such as: milonga, huayno and saya. Un Instante was performed in many festivals and venues including: George Enescu Festival (Bucharest, Romania), Jazz Gallery (New York, USA), Casa América (Barcelona, Spain), La Escalera de Jacob (Madrid, Spain), and Teatro O. Caviglia (Tucumán, Argentina). Samples and videosEventList powered by schlu.net |
