The Paul Van Ostaijen String Quartet was born three years ago out of a combination of musicians from 'De Filharmonie' and the 'Vlaamse Opera'. The Flemish author Paul Van Ostaijen has been an important figure for them from the beginning, especially because of the strong rhythmic in his poems. Starting the concert in a meditative mood with Fugues by Johann Sebastian Bach, they then move to the 'Metamorphoses Nocturnes' by Georgy Ligeti, then the sound of 'Birds' out of a quartet of Joseph Haydn and they willl end with the 5th String Quartet by Philip Glass.
