MUSICAUTA is the result of research work into traditional music in the south of Italy, crossing this music with other styles and influences that give it a modern relevance. NICOLA ANDRIOLI and MORENA BRINDISI have been working on this project for some years. Their idea is to fuse typical Apulia music forms as 'pizzica', 'tarantella', 'serenata' 'ninna-nanna' with other Mediterranean rhythms and with jazz improvisations, that belong to the musical background of the two artists. CARLO STRAZZANTE originates from the south of Italy and he specialized in percussion techniques from the oriental and Indian world. His framedrums and Indian percussion instruments go perfectly with the MUSICAUTA project that has now acquired its definitive form. EMANUELA LODATO has joined the group recently with South Italian drum and vocals. Thus MUSICAUTA offers you a colorful adventure into the musical tradition of south and east Italy. http://www.myspace.com/musicauta
SPECIAL APPEARANCE: 'TESSERE'
'Tessere' is the newest CD by Nicola Andrioli on piano and Gianluca Milanese on flute.
Both of them being present on the national and international music scene, they got together now to recognize and exploit all the nuances and timbres of their instruments.
All the original compositions are the result of the experience and musical preferences that both musicians had till now, in classical music, jazz, traditional popular music and far reaching experimental styles.
The result of this all is a really original stew of sounds that composes and recomposes itself to creat ever new landscapes.
The word 'tessere' has a double meaning. As a noun it indicates the pieces of a colorful mosaic, as a verb it means weaving an intricate musical pattern based on interplay and search of timbre.
