Eastward is a band founded by Arash Badie, an Iranian tar player and composer. The band
started its activities as a trio, presenting the compositions of Arash using eastern and
western instruments, namely tar, piano and clarinet. Recently, a fourth member of
Eastward joined the band with double bass.
The Eastward’s repertoire comprises original compositions, set to a combination of
different musical cultures, mostly using Middle Eastern and western harmony and musical forms.

Based on feelings and emotions, memories and past images, Arash Badie produces his music as a personal impression of his own universe.

Next to Arash Badie, Eastward has three other musicians: Orlando Cialli on piano, Panos Skouteris on clarinet, and Emilio Maggiore on double bass.
The band’s members are currently all students of Codarts University of Arts based in Rotterdam.
