DescriptionIn this workshop we will explore the makam music of Turkey. We will practice the repertoire of Classical Ottoman composers of makam music that were active in the beginning of 20th century.
In the workshop, we will focus on the ornamentation and we will discuss the technical and theoretical background of singing this style of music. • Discovering singing techniques • Enlarge the range of the voice • Ornamentation techniques (with anatomical explanations) • Improvisation technique, • Makam Music Theory General Information: Makam, history, ornamentation, stylistic elements, singing, improvisation Participant Level : All levels are welcome Language : English, Turkish. Duration : 3 hours 12-15h. Price 40E Duygu Alkan is a Turkish artist and researcher based in Netherlands and a master alumni of Codarts from World music department. In her musical career which spans over 10 years and include one solo album as well as three prestigious Award nominations, Duygu Alkan is one of the world music singers in international stage today. Throughout her musical career, Duygu has been performing in established venues in Europe and Middle East and has shared an EP album with prominent musicians.
