DescriptionWoodwork is a reed quintet consisting of 5 passionate musicians that have an eager and deep drive for excellence in chamber music. Based in Belgium, they together strive for quality while still thinking outside of the classically minded box. In this way, they provide audiences with an unforgettable experience time and time again. Each musician in Woodwork has collectively garnered international and national recognition on their instruments – ranging from winning positions in the Flemish Opera and the Royal Military Band of the Belgian Air Force to prize winners of international competitions such as the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition, the Thailand International Clarinet Competition and the Ghent Clarinet Competition. The members of the ensemble are also teachers at academies and universities in Belgium and the United States. They are often asked to teach masterclasses to various studios across Europe and the United States. Their mission is to be an advocate for excellence in chamber music and to promote the music of the reed quintet which is a relatively new major chamber ensemble. Together they have performed throughout Belgium and their upcoming season includes performances in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and France. Woodwork Reed Quintet was named a finalist in the 2022 Supernova Competition in Belgium. In May 2021, Woodwork was a finalist in the second Candenza Contest.
