EXPO - JOHN SQUIRE- TBC

Description

John Squire (47) wrote history in the late '80s, early '90s as guitarist and songwriter of cult band The Stone Roses. When the band put an end to her existence, Squire continued to make a few more solo albums, but it is mainly in his paintings, drawings and sculptures that he showed his inner soul. Art Base now exhibits recent work made by a man who has completely turned away from the British music scene, but whose creations are still being guided by music. Squire's most recent paintings found their inspiration in Miles Davis' music. The artist took guitar tablatures as a starting point, converting them into geometric patterns and numbers. "Miles played like a minimalist and I was headed in that direction. I could see and hear a landscape in the music. There wasn't the distraction of a whining vocalist. There was an elemental quality, a purity that allowed me to project whatever I wanted into it ".
