DescriptionDuygu Alkan and Julia Tavit combine the heritage of timeless traditions
stemming from the broad world of maqam and traditional music from Anatolia. Duygu Alkan and Julia Tavit blend colourful soundscapes from Asia Minor and Anatolia. They will perform traditional and classical tunes from Turkey, Greece, Anatolia and some tunes from Duygu Alkan’s album My Garden’s Perennials. Duygu Alkanis a Turkish artist and researcher based in Netherlands and a master alumni of Codarts from World music department. In her musical career which spans over 10 years and include one solo album as well as three prestigious Award nominations, Duygu Alkan is of the world music singers in international stage today. Throughout her musical career, Duygu has been performing in established venues in Europe and Middle East and has shared an EP album with prominent musicians. Born in 1999, Julia Tavit started her piano studies with Maretta Khacaturyan, at age of 11 was admitted to the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts State Conservatory. In 2018, she was awarded second prize in the New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Piano Competition and she was invited to perform a Solo Piano Recital at Carnegie Hall, USA.
