The quatuor sedici gathers 4 Brusselian cellists. They met during their study at the conservatoire royal de Bruxelles and they started to work together one year ago for a concert in the festival Musica pulchra in the European chapel. The purpose of this ensemble is simply to share their passion with the audience and make them discover what has been written for this beautiful instrument. This concert is all about cello, so they made the choice to share the voices equally (as opposed to the classical quartet) and, this way, they all have a different role piece after piece. For one the cello’s are the bass, the foundation, the low voice, and for another, they are the soloist who sings above, and sometimes as well they play the beautiful intermediate voices, called the heart of the quatuor.
The program is mostly Belgian with the beautiful music of Joseph Jongen, composed in 1929, and the pieces of the famous cellist Désiré Feldbusch. The concert will be completed by the Croatian quartet of Rudolf Matz, a very colored and folk piece.
