DescriptionMARINA PETSALIS – voice
YANNICK JACQUET – piano/guitar Musica Greka recently appeared at the Petit Paris d’Athènes Festival, with a concert entitled 'In the footsteps of Sofia Vembo and Edith Piaf‘. For European Demos they now propose a varied programme of Greek ‚retro‘ and French chansons, together with a set of favourite songs by Manos Hadjidakis. Marina Petsalis, with Greek and English roots, and Yannick Jacquet, from Lyon, met at the crossroads that is Brussels today. Their first project (Athens, Paris, New York 1930-1950) brought together Greek, French and American music of the mid-20th century. Combining their experience and talents, they continue to revisit this repertoire with both imagination and a sense of fun. European Demos is a non-partisan, non-profit civil society hub. It brings together senior and young professionals based in Brussels and interested in European integration, Greek and Mediterranean politics, economic and social empowerment, cosmopolitan identity and globalisation.
Through public and private events, awareness-raising initiatives, recommendations to policy-makers and reform proposals, it aims at enabling citizens’ participation in the debate about the future of Europe, at contributing to the process of deepening cohesion and strengthening the European identity, in order to bring about an actual European demos.
