SCHUMANN, L’AMOUR ET LA VIE D’UNE FEMME

Description

ANA CASEIRO (soprano)
PEDRO COSTA (piano)

"The love and life of a woman" is one of the most famous Lied cycles by Robert Schumann. With this thematic in mind, Ana Caseiro and Pedro Costa present a whole Lied-Recital dedicated to songs about different types and stories of women throughout history: the madness of Ophelia set to music by Richard Strauss, the lovely poetry of Louise de Vilmorin in Poulenc’s songs, the innocence of a little girl in Bernstein's charming music, the redemption of a young nun in Schubert’s Lied and the description of the life and (old fashioned) love of a woman in Schumann's cycle.
Ana Caseiro performed as a soloist in many concerts with Porto Conservatory of Music Orchestra. In 2010 she participated in the recording of a CD, with the choir “Coral de Letras da Universidade do Porto”, performing solo and choir parts. Since 2014, she is part of the professional choir of Casa da Musica (Porto). She has worked with Fernando Guimarães and António Salgado in singing masterclasses and she takes part of the Udo Reinmann International Masterclasses where she studies with Christianne Stotijn and many guest teachers such as Eildert Beeftink, Valérie Guillorit, Julius Drake, Dietrich Henschel, Anne Sophie von Otter and Markus Hadulla. Currently she is finishing her Bachelor studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Dina Grossberger and Dinah Bryant.
Pedro Costa is a young portuguese pianist specialized in art song accompaniment and chamber music. He performs inmany european concert halls, as a solo pianist or collaborating with singers and instrumentalists, in many music festivals and recitals. Winner of competitions such as the Estoril Interpretation Competition, the Helena Sá e Costa Prize, Santa Cecilia Competition, Radio Prize of Young Musicians (Prémio Jovens Músicos), Florinda Santos Competition and the International Competition Fundão City, he had also the opportunity to play in front of several orchestras including the Philharmonic Orchestra of Beiras, Cascais and
Oeiras Chamber Orchestra, ESMAE Orchestra, Orkest der Lage Landen and the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van Gidsen. Pedro Costa studied at the Music University of Porto (Portugal), at the Royal Conservatorium of Brussels (Belgium) and at the University of Arts Graz (Austria).
