DescriptionCECILIA ZABALA & PHILIPPE BADEN POWELL
Music is a universal language that allows us to cross the borders of countries, languages and cultures. Fronteras is an invitation to stroll through those borders to find out different colors and flavors of South-American soundscapes. There, traditional rhythms as Argentina’s Milonga or Brazil’s Samba, live along with each other and together with Spanish and Portuguese poetry. Music and lyrics are the protagonists of a playful and dreamlike scenario. Philippe and Cecilia met in the summer of 1995 in the city of Curitiba (Brazil). Cecilia was studying MPB (Brazilian popular music) and Philippe was participating with his father, the Brazilian guitar player and composer Baden Powell, at a music seminar. They became friends and started a epistolary friendship that lasted several years until they could meet personally in Rio de Janeiro. Time passes and Philippe settled permanently in Paris while Cecilia starts touring Europe every year. This duet project is an extension of the friendship and the music that bring them together. It all began by the end of 2012, with a few concerts in Paris at the venues ; Tango Negro, La Casa de la Argentina, and the New Morning Jazz Club). In the early 2013 Cecilia and Philippe met again in Paris to record the songs that they had written together. www.ceciliazabala.com.ar www.philippebadenpowell.com En collaboration avec l'asbl SEIBO
