The performers of tonight’s concert are musicians who have an excellent understanding between them, on and off the stage. Violinist Kaja Nowak met cellist Anastasia Feruleva during their studies in The Hague Conservatory, and the two have enjoyed enormously both playing music and spending time together ever since, in a perfect combination of friendship and musicianship. When Kaja moved to Brussels after her graduation and started playing regularly with pianist Gian Ponte, it quickly became clear that this duo is also such a perfect mix between “work” and “play”. (… “play” and “play”?) The only thing to do for Kaja was to bring her two favourite musicians together! So here we are, presenting to you a programme consisting of three duos and a trio – every possible way of combining violin, cello and piano. The programme is almost entirely Debussy – with one exception, the Sonata for violin and cello by Maurice Ravel, which was inspired by Debussy’s music and dedicated to his memory and as such still fits the concept – of showing you the marvellous, phantasmagoric, poetic, and filled with the whole scale of human emotions world of Claude Debussy.
