A result of the joint work of drummer João Fideles and pianist Henrique Gomide, Caixa Cubo could be considered simply as a Brazilian Jazz project.
But with a wide view of Music, assimilated during this highly connected information society era, Caixa Cubo looks for its cultural references wherever they come from, choosing them according to their artistic curiosity.
African raw material of improvisation and rhythm complexity are the cradle of their main influences. In other words, Brazilian styles like Samba and
Baião, and American-Worldwide Jazz, all of them created on a mix of cultures in the New Continent. But Classical Music, European
Contemporary Jazz (mainly from ECM Records) or Electronic Music, for instance, are also audible references on their work.
