DescriptionOnce upon a time in the Armenian Kingdom Vaspurakana, there was a Princes by the name Tamara. She lived on an Island at the Lake of Van. She was in love with a commoner from the other shore of the lake. She would light a fire to light his way across the dark waters. Each night, he would swim across the dark expanse. One tragic night, her father, the King found out what was happening and extinguished the fire. The lover lost his way in the darkness.Everyone could hear him crying out ´Akh Tamar´ (Oh Tamar).Since then the Island was called Ahtamar.
