Alexander Preuss - Flamenco Guitar Ruven Ruppik – Percussion
Alexander Preuss is a German flamenco guitar player who combines, for about thirty years, his composer/soloist facet with his extended experience accompanying dancers and singers. The title of the program (calm sea, rough sea) is also the name of a two parts piece, a rondeña, with a free and a rhythmical part, which reflects the tention between form and freedom, tradition and innovation and how one flows into the other. You could see Alexander as a musical story teller, his compositions are grounded in the flamenco tradition with a quiet personal sound…and he really enjoys to have Ruven Ruppik by his side, a great percussion player who is going to be the equal counterpart in conversations on themes like „te quiero mas que tu a mi“ (I love you more than you love me, alegrias), „el tacón de Tomás“ (the heel of Tomás, farruca) or „por que no?“ (why not? Tangos).
