Description

THEODORA ATHANASIOU: VOICE & GUITAR
HAROULA TSALPARA: VOICE & ACCORDEON
GLAFKOS SMARIANAKIS: VIOLIN

Music could never be “captured”, could never stay still or be discovered
once and for all. So “Mpam” it hit them… Three friends got together driven
by their experimental mood. Recovering precious traditional tunes and
covering them in a fresh and playful way. Mixing and matching the past
with today. Concert, party, dance: BAM!!!! Music!!

Theodora Athanasiou is a very experienced and recognized singer and
guitarist. She collaborated with many well-known personalities on CD and
during concerts.
Since 2005 she has been tutoring and giving courses on theory, technique
and repertoire for Greek folk guitar, lavta and yaili tanbur. She is also
a teacher and tutor of Eastern music theory, with a focus on broader
repertoire of eastern Mediterranean regions.

Glafkos Smarianakis studies classical violin in the last year of the
Athens conservatorium and is part of the traditional music orchestra of
this Institute, directed by Andreas Tsekouras. He is also a founding
member of the groups TO BAM( traditional music group) and BANDA
GIAOVANIKA( Balkan gipsy music), and he plays in may groups and events as
an idependent violinist.

Accordeonist and singer Haroula Tsalpara started playing Greek popular and
traditional music for the first time in 2005. Since then, she has worked
as a musician and singer with many different bands and personalities of
Greek and generally eastern mediterranean traditional and folk music.
