Description


The concert presented by Japanese saxophonists Maki Kasai and Yukari Uekawa which will perform their favorite classical and traditional repertories from Europe and Japan.
Also, as guests players, a Japanese bassoonist Kensuke Taira and a Belgian pianist Véronique Delcambre will join this luxury night.

Maki Kasai - Saxophone
She studied classical music at Showa University of  Music, and received the Special Prize at there.
After graduated the university, she entered Showa University of Music, Postgraduate Specialized Program, and received the Presidential Prize. After graduating, she won the 1st prize at the 12th Japan Classical Music Competition, and got the many awards in various competitions. Kasai’s music fascinates the audience by her sentient and dynamic playing.

Yukari Uekawa - Saxophone
She studied saxophone in Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshim(Japan), CNR de Lyon(France), Concervatorium van Amsterdam(The Netherlands) and also studied contemporary music in Royal Concervatory of Ghent(Belgium) under the contemporary groupe of Ictus and Spectra.
In parallel with seasonal classical concert, Yukari’s passion bring her into performs with contemporary dance and Indonesian Gamelan music in Europe and Asia.

Kensuke Taira - Bassoon
He was born in Okinawa, Japan. He started to play the bass clarinet at the age of 10, the bassoon at the age of 26.
He obtained the bachelor in Education at the University of the Ryukyus and 3 master degrees at the Royal conservatoire Antwerp. He studied the bassoon with Francis Pollet, the contrabassoon with Filip Neyensand Danny d'Haene and Bass clarinet with Jan Guns. He graduated at the conservatoire with the highest distinction.
In 2012 he received the "Oranjebeurs" granted by the Dutch Community Antwerp.He works as a freelance with orchestras, music theatres and chamber music groups in Belgium.

Véronique Delcambre - Piano
She began her musical studies at the Gosselies Academy where she received several awards. Afterwards, she was accepted into the Royal Conservatory of Mons in the class of Rosella Clini and Thomas Paule. Several years later, she obtained her Master’s degree with high honors, as well as a Master’s in accompaniment in the class of Catherine Van Loo. From 2013 to 2015, she perfected her skills in contemporary music with the members of the Ictus and Spectra ensembles through the Master after Master program at the Ghent Royal Conservatory.
