Canan comes from Sivas, in Turkey, she sings the old Asiks poets,
playing the Saz, a Turkish luth.
She explains that people there celebrate and rejoice on long nights while hearing these old songs full of deep melancholia, passionated and vibrating feelings, precious pains. We should find strenght while sharing this ancient speaking, this eternal source of enlightening truth. Canan has learned to play with musicians from her family and village. It's quite rare that a woman sings and plays these songs. She has also been learning archeology as Anatolia is a land rich of Mesopotamian traces, where scientists and philosophers try to understand the links between the cult of deaths and the birth of agriculture.
Canan lives in Bordeaux and she sometimes collaborates with musicians from other horizons like the intense bizarre-rockers Cesar and Mauricio Amarante.
She will perform this time in Brussels as a solist, in the full resonance of her art.
