DescriptionGREECE MEETS BELGIUM
REBETIKO & TRADITIONAL MUS Venetsiana Argyriou (a santuri player and music teacher) and Wouter Vandenabeele (violin player and arranger, Olla Vogala) met in a project in France, summer 2015. They found a common dedication for traditional dance and music of France/Belgium and Greece. They decided the fix a new project with two other musicians: Giannis Karakalpakidis: a guitar player from Thessaloniki who is an expert in Greek and Balkan music, he plays with a lot of bands in the north of Greece and is also a violin and bass player. Katerina Douka: a well known singer for interpreting rebètiko and Balkan dances. (she performed in Artbase alrready with Pliri Ntaxei). They explore from Greek and Balkan songs over island dances and Belgian mazurka's to Minor Asia music and new compositions, mixed with jazzy improvisations. In September 2016 they played their first concerts in Kavala and Thessaloniki. In february 2017 they do their first tour in Belgium.
