DescriptionTheir Italian roots, the birthplace, the surname, their love for Argentine tango and folk music as well as for baroque music are some of the common points these two musicians have.
Born in Argentina, they completed their studies in classical music in their homeland and abroad, studying with well-known teachers who shared with them their love for music. Both Omar and Luciano Massa won important prizes and scholarships in their country and abroad, and started a concert career in Argentina that brought them to Europe. Omar lives now in Bucharest, Romania, where he plays with some of the most important Romanian orchestras and ensembles; and Luciano lives in Ghent, Belgium, where he develops an active concert career combined with a teaching career. A concert by Omar and Luciano Massa is a possibility to experience tango music in a very intimate way, but also a possibility to enjoy the Argentine folk music tradition (the music of the inland) and to discover the origin of the bandoneon. This instrument was created for liturgical purposes in Germany during the early 19th century, as a substitute of the church organ. It is therefore, a very suitable instrument for baroque music as well. A performance by Omar and Luciano Massa includes mostly duo pieces, but also some solo pieces as well. Their love for chamber music is even big as their love for the solo repertoire. You will hear pieces by Piazzolla, Yupanqui, Guastavino, Baron. EventList powered by schlu.net |
