This music was born in Rio in the 19th century, result of the encounter between the music of European dances (polca, mazurka, quadrille, waltz ...) and African rhythms imported by slaves (lundu, maxixe ...). Still played and studied today in Brazil, and always more developed i, other countries, the Choro, as to its origins, is enriched with multiple influences (jazz, other popular music ...). Musicians: Everton Firmeza Rodrigues (electric bass, Brazil), Sylvain Boisvert (flutes, France), Matteo Carola (guitar, cavaquinho, Belgium), Gabriel Salles (pandeiro, drums, Brazil), all live now in Brussels. They met at Rodas de Choro (meetings between musicians playing this music, the Chorões), a lively Brazilian tradition and widely practiced. Pedro Moura assisted by Guy Buyse and Pierre Gevaert, in organizing a weekly Roda for almost 4 years in Brussels. Besides concerts, for which he regularly invites Brazilian musicians (and others countries!) o Clube do Choro is being developed several projects like workshops, courses ... to disseminate and share this music! https://www.facebook.com/ClubeDoChoroDeBruxelas/ EventList powered by schlu.net |
