DescriptionBelgian sax player Nathan Daems has already demonstrated his love of eastern music in a variety of projects: Ragini Trio (Indian jazz), Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orkestra (eclectic Balkan), Black Flower (Ethiojazz) etc...He returns today with Karsilama to showcase one of his great passions – the
gipsy music of Greece & Turkey. Like Istanbul itself, the music naturally blends Arabic sonorities with the fire of Balkan & gipsy music. This quintet brings the music back to life with a non traditional line up but in a high energetic form thanks to the extraordinary line up of five top level musicians. Thanks to Dimos Vougioukas, the young phenomenal Greek accordeon player, and Tcha Limberger, the allround Belgian/gipsy super talent on violin, the repertoire travels from Turkey over the Bosporus towards Greece, with small detours through neighbouring countries. Niki Aleksandrovn(percussion), is a very succesful musician who already collaborated with all the greatest in the Bulgarian gipsy wedding scene, while Tristan Driessens (oud) is Belgium's top authority when it comes to Turkish Ottoman music.
