DescriptionLa Manouche presents ‘Ay Chavale!’ meaning ‘Come on friends!’, a music performance with traditionals from the Roma and Sinti culture.
With warm guitar sounds and passionate vocals the public is taken on the gypsy train. During this concert you imagine yourself sitting around a campfire next to the caravan. Emotion, passion and melancholy are the leading feelings in La Manouches music. In 2012 the group was integrated in a book with CD called ‘Gypsy Voices- songs from the Romani soul’. This is a global publication composed by the American journalist Donald Cohen, with important personalities like Esma Redzepova and Saban Bajramovic. La Manouche had the honour to be invited to this publication as the only group from the Netherlands. La Manouche songs are from different regions, and speak mostly about love, tragedy, and the life of the travelling people. Their repertoire is a mixture of Django Reinhardt gypsy swing, csardas and rumba flamenca, their strong sound stemming from the two guitars with Manitos virtuoze technique and Mouché Palts authentic and colorful voice. As a special guest they present Roelof Posthumus( clarinet), who also played on their last CD. Manitos name refers to the guitar legend ‘Manitas de Plata’. While playing, according to himself, Manito just ‘follows the stars and the wind’. www.lamanouche.nl EventList powered by schlu.net |
